The requirements of mechanical strength for transformer
In compliance with IEC 61558 standard, transformers shall have adequate mechanical strength, and be so constructed as to withstand rough handling as may be expected in normal use.
Compliance is checked by F22.50 Spring Hammer Impact Testing, tumbling barrel fall test and pull torque force test.
The transformer, with covers and the like fitted, is held firmly against a rigid support and is subjected to three blows from a spring-operated impact hammer according to test Eh of IEC 60068-2-75 with an energy of (0,5±0,05) J applied to every point of the exterior that protects hazardous live parts and is likely to be weak, including handles, levers, switch knobs and the like, by pressing the hammer nose perpendicularly to the surface.
For portable transformers with integral pins for introduction into fixed socket-outlets, the test is carried out in a tumbling barrel as described in IEC 60068-2-32, with falling height 500mm
Zhilitong Electromechanical Co., Ltd manufactures F22.50 Spring Hammer Impact Testing ZLT-CJ3 and Tumbling Barrel Test Machine ZLT-GT2, meeting with IEC 60068-2-75 test Eh and IEC 60068-2-32.
